How to import Dummy Cloud™ WAN Emulator virtual appliance into VMWare Server using VMWare VI or vSphere Client

Follow these step by step instructions to import the Dummy Cloud™ WAN Emulator into VMWare Server 2.x using VMWare VI or vSphere Client.

Initial VM Importation:

  1. You can acquire the VI Client from an existing VMWare ESX or ESXi installation or from searching the net.  Start the VI Client and log into VMWare Server 2.x.  For default server installations you must add the :8333 port definition.
  2. On the Getting Started Tab click Import a virtual appliance
  3. On the Import Location page, select import from file, click Browse and navigate to where the Dummy Cloud™ WAN Emulator OVF file is located, select it and click Next
  4. On the Virtual Appliance Details page click Next
  5. Accept the EULA and click Next
  6. Type in the desired name for the Dummy Cloud™ WAN Emulator VM and click next
  7. Map the virtual network adapters to a pre-configured network
  8. On the Ready to Complete page click Next
  9. The importation step should complete within a few minutes.
    Once completed successfully click Close


Initial VM Configuration:

  1. You should now have the Dummy Cloud™ WAN Emulator listed as a VM within your VMWare Server.
    Select it, click the Summary tab and click Edit Settings
  2. Select each virtual Network Adapter and map it to the desired VSwitch
  3. If you only wish to use two network adapters, do not delete the third adapter, instead disable the Connect at power on option
  4. After editing the virtual Network Adapters, start the Dummy Cloud™ WAN Emulator VM and open a VI Client console to it
  5. You should now have a VI Client console displaying the Dummy Cloud™ WAN Emulator user interface
